Friday Finds

I hope everyone who is off for three days this weekend has a lovely Memorial Day weekend! Get some knitting done, why don’t you? 🙂

  • Veronik Avery’s St-Denis yarn is super squishy and lovely in the ball (I have some, just haven’t knit with it yet, sigh), and I love all the pattern support she’s done for it. Her third issue is available now, and there are some fantastic patterns from folks like Franklin Habit, Cecily Glowik MacDonald, Jared Flood, and Kirsten Kapur, along with Veronik herself and a few other talented people. My favorite right now? The Ito Yoked Sweater Vest. Yummy, yummy colorwork.

  • Speaking of awesome pattern collections, Miriam Felton of mimknits.com has come out with another stunning pattern collection based around a simple chevron stitch. Six patterns in the whole eBook; my attention is wholly contained by this fantastic cardigan, Rivel.

  • Spilly Jane is at it again with another fantastic colorwork pattern, William, It was Really Nothing. That link takes you to the socks, but it also provides a link for fingerless mitts and mittens. Love the little blue elephants!

  • This fantastic Henrietta Maria cardigan by Elizabeth Wolden is adorably vintage and eye-catching, a sweet cropped cardigan with brocade patterning and simple embroidery.

  • I love the simplicity of this Grey Loop cowl by Helen G. It’s fairly easy knitting with a little bit of eyelet action, and would be fabulous for that super special yarn in your stash.

  • Kristen Hanley Cardozo, being the super clever lady that she is, has yet another fabulous shawl pattern available: the Arcadian Shawl. I bet this would be a super-fast shawl to knit, as the body is all stockinette and the lace edging, worked in a contrasting (or complementary, up to you) color, does all the work.

  • Last one for this week, and a pretty brilliant one: Melissa Wehrle’s Voussoir cardigan for Tunney Wool Company. The stranded colorwork yoke and Swiss dot sleeves (did you see they matched the socks in the photo)? Oh, be still my heart.

I think those are actually hippos on those socks, but they’re cool just the same 🙂 Love the shawl

  2. Great finds! I love the cowl and the shawl especially!
