Friday Finds

Happy Friday indeed! Last weekend, the weather here took a turn to the cooler temps, and I couldn’t be a happier panda. There’s something about the cooler air and hints of fall and winter that I find really inspiring. I want to knit everything, cook everything, make everything, do everything all at once, and yet the cooler nights also make for much more restful sleeping, so there’s a strange energy schism between doing and not-doing.

In honor of the slightly chilly weather, here’s some fantastic Friday Finds to keep your shoulders and head warm during the seasonal transition.

  • Romi Hill’s churning out the shawls for a second year in a row, this time inspired by the Greek muses. First up is Kleio ($20 for the whole 7-shawls eBook subscription; individual pattern to be released soon), the Muse of History. This crescent shawl uses two colors of yarn, one for the garter stitch body and the other for the delicate lacy panels. The photo below is one of the finished objects.

  • Another crescent shawl, the Raphaelite Shawl ($5.50) features bold (and pointy!) lace details. Pattern includes both written and charted instructions.

  • Diverging from the shawls for a moment, the crocheted Coral Cloche ($3) was inspired by coral reefs to form the gathering at the side. I kind of want to make this right now, but I have a list. It’s a long list.

  • Fall and orange and rectangular stoles just seem to go together, as evidenced in the Marmalade Wrap ($6). Simple in knitting, stunning in form, this is the ideal of transition pieces: wear it in stole-form to get the most out of your tanks or short-sleeved tees, bunch it up into a scarf to layer over your sweaters and jackets.

  1. lovely shawls… I’m with you on the wanting to knit everything and do everything bit. Wish body’d cooperate on that front lol. Can I get some of that cooler weather? It’s still warm up here, oy

Well it’s still warmer than I’d like here, but it’s getting there. It’s no longer in the 90s every day!

I know, it’s so adorable! Must find more time!
