Friday Finds

Another Friday, some more finds. Apparently there’s some sort of Major Sporting Event this weekend. While I have watched my fair share of football (growing up, “we” watched college football on Saturday and pro football on Sunday; this was my mother’s doing, and there was only one TV—I read a lot) and can enjoy it, I don’t really watch it if I’m not at someone else’s house (especially now that I don’t get TV service). Some friends and I decided we would have a Super Purl party at another friend’s house—and amazingly, our other friend went with it—so we are getting together to knit, eat (I’m attempting to make pretzels), hang out, and maybe some football. Whatever you’re doing this weekend, I hope you have a grand time!

  • Earlier in the series, I mentioned the knitting clock. Well, there’s a wind-knitting factory. It’s pretty cool, but I still think I’d rather just knit myself a scarf. πŸ˜€
  • Bella Rue by Amanda Rios is a sweet little cardigan with some wonderful details. Seed stitch, cluster stitch, PLEATS… be still my heart.

  • From now until May 31, 70% of the proceeds of the sale of Walk Now by Irishgirlieknits will be donated to Autism Speaks.

  • Here’s a great photo tutorial on cabling without a cable needle. This really is one of the easiest things to do, and can make cabling much faster once you get the hang of it.
  • These crazy low temperatures this week have made me very grateful for my stranded colorwork socks, because those suckers are warm. And then I saw these Spring Roses in Vienna socks by Kamilla Svanlund, and I fell in looooooove. Pattern is available in both English and Swedish!

  • There’s a new KnitCircus available, and I have to say, it’s pretty amazing. They’ve had a good run of issues, but for whatever reason, this is the first time I’ve really looked at it. Two thumbs up!
  • I am so excited about this pattern! And it’s free! Demi Octopus, a cup cozy.

  • Your moment of zen: Ellen Mason’s Lorna Suzanne

That octopus is totally adorable. I’m resisting knitting it because I’m afraid that I would start putting them everywhere πŸ™‚

      I don’t see how this is a problem. πŸ˜€
