Kickstart: Metric

Tomorrow marks the release of Metric’s 5th album, Synthetica, and I’m so excited for it! I fell in love with Metric maybe seven years ago, after hearing a few tracks off their first widely released album Old World Underground, Where Are You Now? (Grow Up and Blow Away is their first album, but OWU was the first to be distributed on a wide scale and receive any attention in Florida). Each successive album has been an expansion on the last, and I love the way the band has evolved and changed while still sounding like Metric. You know what I mean.

I was lucky to see them play right after Old World Underground was released, and they put on one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen. I haven’t quite managed to see them again (they’re playing in Denver in early October… when I’ll be in Paris), but if you have the opportunity to see them play, go. Do it. You won’t regret it.

Here’s a few of my favorite Metric songs, including the first single off Synthetica, called “Youth Without Youth.”

Wow. I’ve never heard of this group before. I love Youth Without Youth & Dead Disco! Think I’m going to make a Pandora station for this group. Thanks for posting this!!!

Yay, I’m glad you like the songs! I’ve been listening to Synthetica this morning and it’s pretty awesome so far.
