Last Week on the Web

Post an actual update, get busy and unable to post Friday Finds. Aaah blog life.

Knits in the News
I can’t decide if this is awesome or mildly disturbing (or both): crochet creatures music video

A recently wed lady spent many, many hours crocheting her wedding dress and the results are spectacular!

Quince and Co are releasing a book of patterns featuring top-down “set-in” seamless sleeve construction. I hate working sleeves from the top down, especially when you’ve already knit the body and then you have all this fabric flying around while you’re knitting in the round (which I suspect distorts the stitching like crazy but since I refuse to do it I have nothing to back me up), but I know there are some people who are vehemently against seaming, so I’m sharing.

An initiative by the Australian Wool Initiative and a football website (soccer for us Yanks) combines wool and sports in a unique way: the Victorian Ultimate Wool Team.

Another unique combination is found in this Kickstarter for a series of custom scarves based on mathematical algorithms.

Techniques
Here’s a cool cast-on edge from We are Knitters, called a frilled cast-on.

An i-cord bind off can look pretty swank, so Craftsy shared a tutorial on executing it. Hint: It’s easier than you might think.

Patterns
Two recent releases from Rowan have me jonesing for winter (even more than usual): Rowan Magazine #58 and Rowan Winterscapes.
