Lapis Tee

I finished my Lapis Tee by Yamagara! I saw this pattern pop up on Ravelry and became obsessed with it. It’s a super simple bottom-up knitting pattern that was fun to knit. I am enjoying coming up with different ways to style it!

Knitting the Lapis Tee

Lapis begins from the bottom up, with a provisional cast on. You work an easy chevron pattern before fading into stockinette stitch for the yoke. The shoulders are joined with Russian grafting, which was a new technique for me. It creates a decorative, low-profile seam, and I can’t wait to figure out when to use it again.

The bottom hem is worked with ribbing once the body is finished. The neck and arm openings are then supposed to be finished with a few rows of garter stitch. I went with reverse single crochet, because it’s fast and I wanted to wear my tee.

Working with Hedgehog Fibers Yarn

This is my second project with Hedgehog Fibers (the other being my Summer Sorrel). I love the pop of color at the bottom of the body! This would be a great option for using up one-off skeins of sock yarn if you don’t want to knit socks. I went with a black and white variegated between the bright colors and the black, mostly because there was only one skein of the black when I bought the yarn. And I’m not a patient person. I did not have enough of the Hedgehog Fibers black yarn to do the hem, so I substituted with another yarn. All of these yarns were purchased at The Mermaid’s Purl, with the Hedgehog yarns being part of my Local Yarn Store day splurge.

I’m super excited that the weather is starting to cool off and I can work my knitted tees into my rotation!

The Details

Cast on: June 9, 2022
Bind off: September 11, 2022
Yarn: Hedgehog Fibers Twist Sock (80% Blue-faced Leicester, 20% nylon): Static, Orca, Graphic. Finished with Life in the Long Grass Twist Sock (80% superwash merino, 20% nylon) in Night
Size: used the numbers for the 66″ size.
Modifications: changed the neckline and armhole openings to finish with reverse single crochet. Accidentally increased too many stitches at some point so the body is wider. It’s fine.
